In Memory of Christopher Hunt

In memory of the late Christopher Hunt, former director of marketing for the Educational Theatre Association who passed away suddenly of a heart attack in September of 2015.

Born on a military base in Heidelberg, Germany, where his father was serving, Hunt grew up in Lancaster, Ohio and moved to Cincinnati for his undergraduate work in marketing at the University of Cincinnati. For several years after graduation, he was active as a volunteer in the business affairs of his fraternity, Kappa Sigma, and he raised funds for the Kids Kickin’ Cancer Foundation on behalf of a niece and nephew. He began working for EdTA in 2000, later returning to U.C. to earn an M.B.A. while still working full time.

In fifteen years as the organization’s marketing chief, Hunt shaped the image of EdTA into that of a respected player in arts education. His work was a crucial contributor to membership growth and the success of EdTA’s burgeoning events, and he became a key adviser to the organization’s leaders. Skilled at research and analysis, he was known among friends and colleagues for his strong opinions, his easy laugh, and his ability to provoke laughter in others. In 2011 he received the EdTA President’s Award.

In honor of his legacy, The Christopher L. Hunt Scholarship is given annually to a student who plans to use his or her skills learned through theatre in a career focused on business or marketing.
