(ITO) International Thespian Officer Application

The International Thespians Officers (ITO) are Thespian leaders who represent the student voice in the Educational Theatre Association and International Thespian Society. These officers work year-round with EdTA staff, chapter leaders, and Thespians from across the globe to nurture strong student leaders, advocate for the arts, fund raise for accessibility, and create the best experience possible for students.

Selected applicants will be interviewed by phone for inclusion on the ITO election slate.

Eligibility requirements for ITO candidacy:

  • Must be an inducted Thespian
  • Registered to attend the Student Leadership Program at the 2020 Virtual International Thespian Festival (ITF)
  • Currently a sophomore or junior in high school, in good academic standing
  • Has attended a home chapter event if available
  • Letter of recommendation from applicant’s troupe director
  • Has completed and submitted an ITO candidacy application

    ITO duties and responsibilities:
  • Plan and lead the Student Leadership Program at ITF
  • Attend ITF 2021, EdTA Theatre Education Advocacy Day 2021, and other events as scheduled. Travel expenses are covered by EdTA
  • Serve as a student member of the EdTA Board of Directors and the Leadership Engagement and Development for Students (LEADS) steering committee
  • Coordinate with chapter student leaders to support leadership, advocacy, and programming
  • Develop and implement content for International Thespian Society social media campaigns and publications
  • Support fundraising efforts for Thespian scholarship initiatives at the chapter and international levels
  • Represent EdTA and participate in national arts advocacy events

  2. I acknowledge that I have completed both the General Application and the Student Conditional Application and wish to be considered as an ITO candidate.
  3. Every ITO applicant must be registered to attend the Student Leadership Program at the 2020 International Thespian Festival in Bloomington, Indiana by May 1, 2020. The Student Leadership Program is a prerequisite to run for ITO. I have contacted my troupe director to register.
