Bob and Marti Fowler Future Theatre Educator Scholarship

The Bob and Marti Fowler Future Theatre Educator Scholarship is for an inducted Thespian of the International Thespian Society (ITS) pursuing a theatre education major. One applicant will receive a one-time scholarship of $2,000 to be applied to tuition and fees associated with full-time enrollment at an accredited college or university. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college or university.


Each applicant MUST complete the following in Academic Works:
• The AcademicWorks General and Student Conditional Application (Including the necessary H.S. transcript and Troupe Director letters)
• This application and it’s supplemental questions.

Applicants should demonstrate leadership qualities, work ethic, the ability to effectively work as a member of a production team, strong character, academic ability, organizational skills, and experience in different aspects of theatre. Students must also be pursuing a major in theatre education.

The scholarship’s judging committee may select to not award this scholarship if, in their opinion, there are no deserving applicants.

The Deadline for submission is April 1.

This scholarship is for an inducted Thespian of the International Thespian Society (ITS), the student honorary organization of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA).

As of the date that you submit your scholarship application, please indicate: 1) where you have applied 2) the status of your application (accepted or pending) and 3) whether the program to which you have applied has a formal theatre education major degree or if it is a specialized/customized program in which you are taking both theatre and education classes to achieve a theatre education degree.
  5. Please write an essay describing the characteristics of an exceptional theatre educator and how your accomplishments qualify you for the scholarship.
